Frequently asked

How do I add a part-payment?

Open the invoice → tap Add in the Part-payments section. The amount is validated against the remaining principal so you can't enter more than is outstanding. Long-press a part-payment to delete it.

Why does the running total tick up every time I open an invoice?

Statutory interest accrues daily. When you open an invoice, Statute animates the figure from yesterday's value to today's so you can see what's accumulated. The PDF demand notice always uses the figure as of the day you generate it.

What does the "approaching 6-year limitation" warning mean?

Under the Limitation Act 1980, you have six years from the original due date to claim statutory interest on a commercial invoice. Statute warns you when an invoice is within three months of that deadline, and stops calculating interest entirely once it has passed.

How do I cancel my subscription?

iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → Statute → Cancel. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Your saved invoices are not deleted; the calculator just reverts to the free one-shot mode.

The calculation differs from the OSBC web calculator by a few pence

Statute follows section 4(2) of the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998: interest "shall begin to run on the day after the relevant day". The OSBC calculator treats the relevant day itself as a late day, which produces a small discrepancy at rate-window edges (when the due date sits on 30 June or 31 December). Statute's behaviour matches the letter of the Act; the OSBC tool has a known boundary handling difference.

Does Statute work without an internet connection?

Yes — the bundled Bank of England rate history goes back to 1998 and is current as of the build date. Statute attempts to refresh once a day from the BoE Statistical Database when you're online, and falls back to the bundled data otherwise.

Can I export my invoices?

V1 stores everything on-device with no export. iCloud sync and CSV export are on the roadmap. Use iOS Settings → General → iPhone Storage → Statute → Offload to keep the data while removing the app, if you need a workaround.
